2020 Subaru Outback Redesign, Interior, Engine, Release Date and Price. After finishing with the new Forester, the company will focus on its most famous crossover, which is about to come completely new as 2020 Subaru Outback. The famous station wagon/crossover established a completely new segment in the automotive industry and still holds leading position.
The original Outback came in 1994. During these almost 25 years, we have seen five generations of it. The current model is present since 2015 and it looks like it will be redesigned in about two years. At the moment, it seems early to talk about some more precise details, but it seems almost certain that the new model will take inspiration from the recently-presented Viziv Concept.
Expect to see similar styling philosophy, though more production friendly. On the other side, Subaru should present completely new mechanics, built over the new Global platform which has been used for all recent models from this famous brand.
2020 Subaru Outback Redesign
Just like every redesign, this one will also bring a lot of novelties. If we can judge on unofficial reports, the new model will take the inspiration from the recently presented Viziv Concept. The new concept car introduced a completely new styling approach, characterized by plenty of sharp lines. The front end is completely different compared to everything that Subaru has in the current lineup. A bunch of sharp-angled lines and modern visual approach make this concept very attractive, especially if we consider company’s conventional styling policy. From the side, you can notice an extremely sleek profile. It seems unusual for crossover, but that’s because this model has always been coquetting with station wagon design.
We can only hope that the new concept will be a starting point for new 2020 Subaru Outback, as well as other upcoming models. Of course, expect a little bit milder approach, with more production-friendly elements.
2020 Subaru Outback Interior design
Another aspect of the car that should come with a bunch of novelties. The current model features quite conventional design philosophy and we have no doubt that the 2020 Subaru Outback will continue in the same way. We are pretty sure that the company will try to offer a little bit more of a premium feel, something similar to what we can see in the new Forester. Expect a completely new dashboard layout, with more horizontal lines. We should see a better materials choice. More comfortable seats, new color schemes, and new trims are also things that we should see in the new 2020 Subaru Outback.
2020 Subaru Outback Tech Features
Attractive styling, the 2020 Subaru Outback should come with a bunch of latest technology features. This crossover has always been a comfort-oriented vehicle, so there is no doubt that the company will offer a complete pallet of advanced tech features. Of course, we should see large multimedia screens at the center console, premium sound system, smartphone navigation, Bluetooth, USB ports. Of course, there is a famous Subaru’s EyeSight active safety system, which should be updated for this occasion. Some of this highlights of this package are advanced systems like autonomous emergency braking, side and front view monitors, active cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane assist and much more.
2020 Subaru Outback– Driver Monitoring System
The company has recently introduced an industry-new Driver Monitoring System and we have no doubt that the same feature will find its place in new 2020 Subaru Outback. It is a pretty convenient camera-based system. Basically, recognizes the driver’s face, just like it is the case with smartphones, social networks etc. You would have to set the things like seat position, cabin temperature, mirror position, radio station and similar things. Once you save these settings, it will be enough to sit in the car. Once you start with the ignition, the system will recognize your face and set a parameter that you have saved. The great thing is that you can save up to four settings, which means that practically every family member will be able to drive the car, without bothering with things like setting seat position, outside mirrors every time.
2020 Subaru Outback Engines
The current-generation model comes with three engines in the offer and we expect to see all of these units in the 2020 Subaru Outback. The base engine is a familiar 2.0-liter unit, which is good for about 150 horses. For the new model, we could see a mild power boost.
On the other side, an optional 2.5-liter inline-four unit already received an update and now features 182 horsepower, instead of 170. There is a large 3.6-liter inline-six unit, which in the current version delivers around 256 horsepower. This engine could also get a mild update. All units use the same CVT gearbox.
2020 Subaru Outback Could Get a Performance Version?
According to rumors, the 2020 Subaru Outback could also come in hi-performance version. It looks like this model will get a turbocharged version of the inline-six engine. A total amount of power would go over 300 horses. Of course, this version would require a manual transmission. More power, this version would probably come with some chassis tweaks, with things like sporty suspension, brakes etc. Expect to see few changes in terms of styling. The new version would probably feature a more attractive look. Expect new details like sporty bumpers, unique front fascia, bigger wheels etc. Expect few changes on the inside.
2020 Subaru Outback release date and price
At the moment, it seems early to talk about a more precise launch date. We are pretty sure that the new generation will come in about two years. Before that, we will probably see the new model present on some major auto show. In terms of price, we don’t expect bigger changes. The current model goes in a range between 26.000 and 39.000 dollars. The new 2020 Subaru Outback should stick to this range, though eventual performance model will probably cost several thousand dollars more.
When it comes to competition, we must say that this model stands somewhere between crossovers and wagon and that there are many similar models in this class. One of the potential rivals could be the Audi Allroad. Even the current-generation Outback is superior when it comes to off-road capabilities.
