2021 Cadillac Escalade EXT: Redesign and Specs. The new generation of the famous SUV has been presented recently and it’s on the way for production, which is scheduled for the summer. Along with the new SUV, rumors about its truck iteration appeared as well, in the form of another familiar nameplate, the 2021 Cadillac Escalade EXT. The EXT was in production for two generation of the Escalade and it was discontinued in 2013, due to slow sales numbers. Things are a little bit different these days and the truck market is getting bigger and bigger. At this point, it’s just a rumor, but we hope some information will come from the manufacturer soon.
2021 Cadillac Escalade EXT Engines
Things under the hood are pretty clear. The 2021 Cadillac Escalade EXT will feature the same engines you can find in the Escalade. This means base models will come with a well-known 6.2-liter V8. It is good for about 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. The interesting thing about the new Escalade is that it is the first time we can see a diesel engine under the hood. The same is expected with this pickup. Count on a 3.0-liter turbodiesel with around 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Both engines come in pairs with a 10-speed automatic transmission, which sends power to either rear or all wheels.
2021 Cadillac Escalade EXT Design
Despite there are no details about the 2021 Cadillac Escalade EXT, things with most of the design characteristics are pretty clear. This includes the overall design. The new SUV has been presented recently and it comes with a lot of interesting novelties. They would find the place in the new EXT. Of course, we are talking about the new platform that saves a lot of pounds, as well as about the new styling, which comes with a significantly more conventional approach compared to some previous versions.
This is particularly notable at the front. The famous shield grille is present. Still, headlights are designed in a pretty classic manner, unlike those you can find in some other models of the brand. On the other side, the rear end comes with familiar narrow taillights and that is probably something we will see in the 2021 Cadillac Escalade EXT. The only major difference will be in terms of the cargo bed. It won’t be too big, but it will take the place of the third row and cargo area.
This is where we don’t expect to see any particular difference. The 2021 Cadillac Escalade EXT should be a complete copycat of its SUV version and that definitely a great thing. The new interior is all about new technologies. Of course, the aesthetics are impressive as well, but the new dashboard is definitely highlighted with loads of touchscreens. Practically, there is a large control panel in front of the driver, which consists of three screens. On the left side of the steering wheel, there is the smallest, 7.2-inch touchscreen, which serves as a driver information display. Of course, the instrument cluster is at the center, behind the wheel. It is completely digital, with 14.2 inches diagonally. There is a large 16.9 touchscreen. A great thing is that all three screens feature impressive resolution and graphics.
The rest of the cabin will look amazing as well, also pretty much the same as the one presented with the new Escalade. On the other side, the biggest difference would be the lack of the third row. Instead, we would see a cargo bed and we are pretty sure that this pickup layout won’t affect the amount of space in the first two rows, which should be pretty much the same as in the SUV version.
Another big novelty we expect to see in this model is the famous Super Cruise. This semi-autonomous driving system has been updated recently and now covers more than 200.000 miles of highways across North America. The system is based on various things, such as all monitored by LiDAR data, GPS, cameras, and radar systems, and allows hands-free operation.
2021 Cadillac Escalade EXT Release Date and Price
When it comes to the release date and price, we should mention that the 2021 Cadillac Escalade EXT is just a rumor at the moment. The officials are still quiet on this model, so we can’t talk about the more precise launch date and price. We hope some info will appear in the near future.
